2013-14 snow pack

I saw this on Andrew Skurka's site. According to the most recent snow survey things are looking more than a little dry. Last summer was a pretty long hiking season if you stated away from the Rim Fire. Trying not to think about the down side of this drought. According to a USFS friend who works with fire, it's the fall rains that but the water in the ground for trees and plants when they come out of hibernation and that has a lot to do with the next years fire season. On the other hand at this rate no grass is growing so tinder types fuels are limited. Anyway, looks like it could be another early summer for hiking.
