TR - 10 Days on the SHR - More pictures than words
I've been lurking here for quite some time now...maybe it's about time I contributed something.
A friend and I hiked the SHR from Kings Canyon to Red's Meadow on August 8th-17th.
This was our itinerary:
Day 1: End of the Road to the basin below Goat Crest Saddle
Day 2: Goat Crest Saddle to just below White Pass
Day 3: White Pass to Upper Basin
Day 4: Upper Basin to LeConte Canyon (skipped the Dusy Basin section)
Day 5: LeConte Canyon to Evolution Lake
Day 6: Evolution Lake to Mesa Lake
Day 7: Mesa Lake to Black Bear Lake
Day 8: Black Bear Lake to Laurel Creek Valley
Day 9: Laurel Creek Valley to Duck Lake
Day 10: Duck Lake to Red's Meadow
Here are some of the highlights...
Looking south from the Copper Creek Trail
Climbing Grouse Lake Pass
Sunset in the basin below Goat Crest Saddle
Descending Glacier Valley
Camp above S. Fork Cartridge Creek
Descending the chute to Marion Lake
Getting ready to descend Frozen Lake Pass

Awesome photos! I so envy you. Most of those places I haven't been to yet,
and at my age, I won't get to quite a few of them. Thanks for posting.

Great stuff. Thanks for posting it. We've been to some of those places, and want to visit most of the rest. You've only given us encouragement!

What a lot of beautiful scenery! You teased an epic trip nicely. Has me trying to imagine all the other incredible things you saw on the hike.

It was a real joy to scroll through the photos. I'm a bit amazed by how many miles you managed some of those days. (Oh, to be young again.) Thanks for sharing.
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.
